CD Release Party Tomorrow Night!

October 23, 2010

Sunday evenings are usually filled with tasks to prep for the upcoming week. But why do laundry when you can listen to great musicians, sip a microbrew and purchase a copy of Roots & Branches v. 2: Live from the 2010 Northwest Folklife Festival three weeks before it goes on sale to the general public? The question practically answers itself.

Noah Gundersen

During the week, you had a chance to preview the artists performing tomorrow night. Local legends, Cliff Perry & Laurel Bliss, start us off with some of the traditional bluegrass our Festival is known for. The Raggedy Anns take the stage next with a blend of gypsy pop and rock ‘n’ roll rolled into a see-it-to-believe-it live show. Wrapping up the evening is Noah Gundersen and the Courage bringing introspective lyrics and a musical style that makes Gundersen seem wise beyond his 21 years.

So come out to the Tractor Tavern tomorrow night at 7pm and hear some great music! Your laundry can wait.

Get your tickets here.

Featured Musicians: Cliff Perry & Laurel Bliss

October 18, 2010

Creating timeless music in the Pacific Northwest for over two decades, Cliff Perry and Laurel Bliss are a dynamic duo not to be missed.  Check them out this Sunday, 7 p.m. at the Tractor Tavern for the Roots & Branches Vol.2: Live from the 2010 Festival CD Release Party!

Cliff and Laurel began as a singing duo in the late 80’s and are now recognized veterans in the bluegrass and old-time music communities.  Together they formed the heart and soul of Southfork, a legendary Northwest bluegrass band in Washington and up and down the West Coast.

Respected by their peers and beloved by their fans, Cliff and Laurel always deliver a wonderful collection of old-time country duets.  When listening to them, you can tell they are greatly influenced by the Carter Family, however, they’ve also internalized and taken their own approach to the material. Old-time country music encompasses a myriad of styles and Perry and Bliss opt for a composed, straightforward approach that, like the Carters’ music, suggests an earlier era. Also featured at the CD Release Party are The Raggedy Anns and Noah Gundersen and The Courage .  Preorder your tickets here or buy them for $8 at the door.

Stay tuned for tomorrow’s featured musican!
