Welcome to the Folklife blog!

With all the exciting new activities and events going on at Northwest Folklife this year, we decided it is finally time to start a blog. In the coming weeks you will learn more about A Night for Folklife, a collection of house parties aimed at raising critical funds both for the Festival as well as our expanded year-round programming. You will also hear about the Roots and Branches collection of audio recordings starting with the soon-to-be-released Live from the 2009 Northwest Folklife Festival and accompanying CD release party on November 22nd at the Tractor Tavern.

We want this to be a place you can come to learn what’s going on in your community. We will not only document upcoming Folklife events, but also look at arts and culture produced in the Pacific Northwest. At Northwest Folklife, we are committed to documenting, presenting and preserving cultural and traditional arts. And since communication is essential to the creation of community, we encourage you to leave comments. Give us feedback on our events. Tell us about the community you represent. This blog is as much yours as it is ours.
